Where Steam Cloud Saves Are Stored Locally on PC
Detailed explanation of Steam userdata directory structure, SteamID3 resolution, AppID matching, and remote folder files.
1
Navigate to Steam Userdata
Steam Cloud saves are stored locally in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[Your_SteamID3]\. If you have Steam installed on another drive, look inside your Steam root directory.
2
Identify Your SteamID3
If only one Steam account has logged in on your PC, you will see a single numeric folder. If multiple users have logged in, verify your Account ID via your Steam Profile URL.
3
Find the Game by Steam AppID
Each game has a unique numeric AppID (e.g. 1245620 for Elden Ring, 271590 for GTA V). Open the folder corresponding to your gameβs AppID.
4
Open the "remote" Directory
Inside the AppID folder, the actual save files are placed inside the
remote subfolder. Do not modify the remotecache.vdf file directly as Steam uses it for cloud conflict verification. Need exact paths for a specific game?
